LEOPOLDO REYES PARTICIPATED IN THE CLOSING PANEL OF THE WORKSHOP ON MINING, AQUACULTURE AND FRUIT CULTURE HELD BY CIEPLAN
The motivation of this workshop, organized in the framework of the Cieplan and Universidad de Talca’s collaboration program, together with the CAF, was the decrease in productivity in the production of natural resources in Latin America, related to mining, aquaculture, and fruit growing. What to do in order to increase productivity to produce natural resources? This in the context of the challenge faced by companies in the economic, social and environmental fields.
The workshop kicked off with a section called Productivity and Competitiveness in Mining, in which Oswaldo Molina, professor at the Universidad Pacífico de Lima, explained the productivity and competitiveness of the mining sector in Peru and Patricio Meller, a researcher at CIEPLAN, spoke about Chilean copper, its productivity, innovation and social license.
The presentations were then commented by Codelco’s Executive President, Nelson Pizarro, Collahuasi’s President Jorge Gómez and Anglo American Chile’s Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Felipe Purcell.
Towards the end of the seminar, Cesco’s Chairman Leopoldo Reyes, commented on the closing panel on behalf of the mining sector making a summary of the challenges for the industry.
