02 Jul The trade war between China and the USA will be the topic of the keynote speech for Asia Copper Dinner 2019
The renowned economist and professor at the National School of Development China Center for Economic Research of Peking University, Huang Yiping, will be the keynote speaker at the eighth meeting of Asia Copper Week in Shanghai. The new era of the bilateral relationship between China and the United States and its impact on the development of the global economy will be the topic tackled by the expert, after a year of uncertainty for mining product of this new scenario.
An analysis of the current global economic scenario and the impact of the trade confrontation between the Asian country and the North American nation will be the main topic that will cross the discussion of the 8th edition of Asia Copper Dinner, one of the most important meetings of copper at a global level.
The dinner is the culminating event of Asia Copper Week, an international event organized by the Center for Copper and Mining Studies – CESCO – which in this new version expects to gather around 1,800 people, 60 world leaders and representatives of more than 100 companies associated with the mining world, as well as multiple bilateral meetings.
On this occasion, the main speaker of the meeting, that will take place on November 21 at the Shanghai International Convention Center, will be Professor Huang Yiping, an academic of the National School of Development China Center for Economic Research at Peking University and a member of the China Finance 40 Forum.
Alejandra Wood, Executive Director of CESCO, emphasizes that “undoubtedly, the opportunity to be in China together with the main players in the industry will allow us to obtain first-hand information about the copper demand of the Asian giant, whose growth is decisive for our industry”.
In addition to Asia Copper Dinner, during Asia Copper Week 2019 the top executives of the international mining industry will be able to participate in three other events: 15th Copper Conference, organized by Minmetals and Fastmarkets; 8th CEO SUMMIT and a meeting of the International Wrought Copper Council.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Huang Yiping has been at the heart of China’s remarkable economic growth. Widely recognized as one of the most important policy economists in the country, Yiping has a global position in its field.
Previously, he was Executive Director and Chief Economist for Asia at Citigroup, based in Hong Kong; Director of the China Economics Program at the National University of Australia in Canberra and policy analyst at the Research Center for Rural Development of the State Council in Beijing.
His interests include macroeconomic policy, international finance and rural development: He has published several books on these topics.
