Asia Copper Week 2019 Prepares to Receive Copper Industry Leaders in China

The eighth version of this event, which is one of the main encounters around copper held in China between November 19 and 22, brings together 2,000 people, in the context of the campaigns for copper concentrate sale to the Asian giant, along with strengthening trade links between that country and the supplier countries.

The trade war between the United States and China, as well as the growth of this country and its impact on the demand of metal, will be at the heart of this new version of Asia Copper Week, a meeting organized in China by CESCO and China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA),

The top executives of the international mining and copper industry may participate in four meetings: 15th Copper Conference (November 19-20) organized by Fast Markets MB; 8th CEO SUMMIT (November 21); 8th Asia Copper Dinner (November 21) and International Wrought Copper Council & Shanghai Futures Exchange China Copper Seminar, (November 22).

Alejandra Wood, Executive Director for CESCO, points out that Asia Copper Week has the mission of further developing the work with China, a country with which Chile has a close commercial relationship around mining. “We are organizing the eighth version of this event and we see that the cooperation between both nations is increasingly mature. At the same time, it is essential to understand first-hand the demand forecasts from China, the world’s leading consumer of copper. We know that this year one of the main issues to be addressed will be the challenge of the commercial tension between two major powers, such as China and the United States.”

Asia Copper Week has already confirmed the participation of Anthony Lea, President of ICA; Paul White, Secretary-General of ICGS; Akira Miura, President and CEO of Pan Pacific Copper; Javier Targhetta, President of Atlantic Copper; Juan Benavides, President of the CODELCO Board; Ruben Fernandes, CEO of Anglo American Base Metals; Roland Harings, CEO of Aurubis; Tetsuro Sakai, President of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation Metal Company and Donald Lindsay, President and CEO of Teck Resources Limited.
