After 20 years of study, CODELCO opened the Chuquicamata underground mine project this past August 14th, this event gathered hundreds of representatives of the mining world and public at the north of Chile. This initiative is one of the main structural projects of the company, since it will allow to extend the life of this centenarian labor.

Alejandra Wood, executive director at CESCO was present at the opening, where she corroborated the great significance of the project and its positive impact. 

“The inauguration of the Chuquicamata underground mine should be a source of pride for our country, it is an historical milestone in the mining industry. “It was exciting to be there also listening to the moving words of Nelson Pizarro who has been over 50 years in the industry” Alejandra Wood highlighted.
