About CESCO
The Center for Copper and Mining Studies, CESCO, is an independent, non-profit organization created in Santiago in 1984. The members of CESCO work as executives or consultant for national and foreign mining companies, others as professors in local or foreign universities. Throughout its history, CESCO has positioned itself as a meeting place for diverse sectors interested in mining --business, academia, policymakers and professionals-- to promote ideas and discuss criteria about public policies related to economic and mining activities.
CESCO has organized its Annual Latin-American Mining Dinner within this framework since 1997. This event brings together the main players of the mining sector from around the world, with special emphasis on Latin America: mining companies, metal processing companies, investment banks, traders, engineering and shipping companies, among others.
During 2005 CESCO began an strategic planning process that ended in 2006 with relevant changes, including the transformation of the entity in a private corporation, the naming of a new board of directors and a new executive director.
MISSIONContribute to the design and debate of public policies which foster the best use of the mining industry's potential for the development of the national economies of mineral producing countries, with a special focus on Chile.
VALUESIndependence and autonomy of their approach, as well as the legitimacy given by the professionalism of its work.
