Ricardo Olivares
Industrial engineer of the Universidad de Chile. Mr. Olivares was a full time professor of the engineering school in the Universidad Católica de Valparaiso (1971-1977). He worked in the Empresa de Agua Potable de Santiago – Santiago Water Company- between 1968 and 1971. His work experience in Codelco-Chile is extensive. Between 1974 and 1996 worked in several positions in the national company, including the research department on the supplies vice-presidency, assistant to the senior executive marketing VP and the president & CEO, was the Codelco sales representative in Brazil, general manager European copper sales, general manager Asia & eastern Europe copper sales, general manager non refined copper sales DPT., sales operations VP, president and CEO Codelco (USA) and Codelco Metals and sales VP. Mr. Olivares experience in other companies is remarkable. He has worked in Trafigura AG as Chilean representative, Fundición Refimet S.A. (commercial VP) and Falconbridge ltd. (commercial VP, copper business unit). He has also participated in several associations as a board member of Copper Development Association (USA), of the Latin American Council of International Copper Association (ICA), was an Advisory Committee Member of International Copper Association, member of the Marketing Committee in CIA Minera Antamina (Peru) and in CIA Minera Collahuasi. He was also Board Vice Chairman in Latin American Council of ICA between 2004 and 2006. Currently he is working as a commercial consultant to mining companies and participates as member of the Instituto de Ingenieros de Chile and as board member of the Center for Copper and Mining Studies (Cesco).
