With the presence of the Chilean Minister of Mines, Laurence Golborne, the Undersecretary of the portfolio, Paul Wagner and prominent business personalities from the mining industry, the third International Conference on Mining Exploration of the Copper and Mining Studies Center, an event produced by the Editorial Group Editec, was successfully developed.

The meeting aimed to identify sources and factors of uncertainty affecting the resources and mining businesses, to discuss business models and criteria and requirements of their funding, and to highlight the main regulatory instruments related to the capital markets in the mining industry. In this case, the seminar, attended by about 300 people, was composed of different modules that resolved issues such as: the state of exploration in Chile, the impact of the new environmental institutionalism and the subject of indigenous issues in mineral exploration, the role of geological information in the development of mineral exploration and the search for finance for exploration in Chile.

For this last item, the following prominent speakers attended: Michael Chender, the CEO of the Metals Economic Group (MEG), Ricardo Muhr, the Vice President of Mineral Resources for Antofagasta Minerals, Russell Alley, the President of Quadra Mining Chile, Rodolfo Camacho, representative of the CPC, the Advisory Board of Corama and Edmundo Tulcanaza, the President of the Competence Assessment Commission for Resources and Ore Reserves, among many others.

As a special mention, recognition of the career of David Lowell, the geologist who discovered Escondida and who acted as the keynote speaker during the lunch, was presented.
